17th April 2005 Dear Friend, Ah. Spring. That's whats happening here in unbalanced London! It seems so long since we last spoke, but so much has really happened in my life!
Does that make sense? Ok, well let me give you an example. When I was young, I spent 11 years of my life in Nigeria. During those years, I visited England nearly every year. I didn't want to stay in the closed dirty and smelly area in Lagos but I couldn't just get up and leave there because I was a little kid (we did leave in the end, not 'coz of the smell though). The point I'm trying to make is this: if you are putting up with things. Stop! Don't! It's going to have an effect on another part of your life! How does all of this relate to you? Right now, you're TOLERATING something. Something that may not even relate to music. But that something is taking up brainspace that could be used to move your music career forward. Uncurl your toes again for me. Let's work through another brilliant exercise! Remember what's waiting for you at the end - the power to unleash and become what you really want (just because you have that extra freedom!) In the next 90 seconds, write down TEN things in your life that you are tolerating. They can and should be little things. Here are two of my recent ones...
Don't overthink this one. Speed-write ten things that come to your mind, NOW:
Done? Now, commit to fixing or eliminating at least THREE of these in the next two weeks. In my case, I got rid of my table and work on my computer on the floor with lots of space for my instruments. And sure, are these things that your tolerating a pain in the butt to fix? Absolutely. But it's time to toughen up and blast through them so you can get to the REAL work. And that's writing and performing music that makes our whole world better, so you can inspire your audience to ditch their own tolerations Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of your success!
