1st April 2005 Dear Friend, Seems like ages since we last spoke! Can't complain though, I've had the most amazing week this month and created some awesome magic moments in my life! The weathers getting better too here in London (finally!) and here I am again, sitting up till late typing this wonderful newsletter up as I've just returned from my day trip down south to the coast in Brighton! It's been an exceptional day - full of memories, breeze, new friends, music and passion! Have you ever had such a wonderful day like that? There were three of us - Rupa, Suraj and myself. Suraj was driving down and I was trying to be the guide (it was surely the easiest guide job I had, not too fun though!). We went down with the intention of simply relaxing and having a great day, and oh yeah, to check out some venues for our workshop in the summer and a mini-performance that we had at a bar! By the way, if you've never been to Brighton before, let me invite you down there! I'm definately up for going again (to the lovely beaches). Quite simply, it's a wonderful place, and there's so much to do! The performance we had was with one of my clients, Carlos, who is a guitarist and whilst I accompanied him with my beloved Tabla, I observed something spectacular in him. The music seemed to just naturally flow through him, and the music that was created for the listeners ear was fantastic! Carlos has only been working with me for a short while now and the progress he's made has been exceptional - and what's more, the music has had a knock on effect on other parts of his life and he's doing so well! Thanks to his wonderous performance this evening, I'm really inspired to develop that further and explore a little in this newsletter. Let’s look at the holistic therapy known as Reiki. Reiki works on the life force flowing through us (the force keeping us alive!). In Reiki, this life flows through the chakras, meridians and the nadis. It also flows in a field around us called the aura. This force nourishes our cells and organs, and supports them in their vital functions. This life force is responsive to our thoughts and feelings and can get destroyed or urged on by them. The art of Reiki heals the affected parts of the energy field, charging them with positive energy. Now, the force that flows the music through us is very similar to Reiki. Think music-related. Think sound. Think feeling. Think emotions. The force flowing the music through I is what keeps our music at its best. It flows around our senses, our passions, our desires, our organs and cells. It gives us a boost when we need it, and it motivates us when we’re low. Like the life force in Reiki, this music force is also responsive to our thoughts and feelings. So for example, when we face negative thoughts and obstacles, the force that flows the music through us takes a bashing at and it becomes lower – your best performances aren’t being let out. So what exactly is this force, and how do I let it out? I’m not going to spill the beans just here... So
